WHAT WE DO...
At Dance with Miss Rachel, kids ages 10 weeks and up have a place to let their creativity blossom. In unique, inspirational 45-minute classes, kids learn ballet, singing, musical theatre, and more. All classes are taught by two professionally trained instructors who sing along with a live pianist.What makes us different from other kids' programs? Just ask anyone who's taken our classes. Our individualized approach to teaching makes each child feel like a star. At Dance with Miss Rachel, we seek to educate children through storytelling, imaginative song and movement, and spark their inner creativity. Not only do we have fun, dance is the ultimate way for kids to develop balance, strength, flexibility, coordination, rhythm, grace, sharing, and independence!
WHO WE ARE...
"Miss Rachel" Cantor
Owner / Director
"Miss Rachel" comes to NYC from West Bloomfield, Michigan, where her love of all things theatrical began. She performed in school and community shows since age 5 before attending the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy. After graduating High School, Rachel attended The Boston Conservatory, graduating with a BFA in Musical Theatre. Upon graduation, Rachel moved to NYC and has been performing in New York and around the country ever since! In addition, Rachel is an accomplished voiceover artist with national spots for Huggies, Walmart, and McDonald's currently running. Rachel also voices the character of Barbie in all the Barbie read-along audio books. Her passions for theatre and working with children have proven to be a winning combination.
Over the years, "Miss Rachel" has become a downtown staple, sharing her love of song and dance with hundreds of children in the community. After several years of hard work and preparation (including a year rolling her backpack—aka "mobile studio"—around town), Dance with Miss Rachel is truly a dream realized.

"Miss Lisa" Boag
"Miss Lisa" grew up in a small town called Lewiston, NY, but became a city girl when she was accepted to NYU's Tisch School of the Arts to study musical theatre. After graduation, she spent several years in national tours of the Broadway musicals Show Boat, Cats, Seussical, Beauty and the Beast, Hairspray, My Fair Lady, and Mary Poppins. Lisa has worked as an assistant director and as a choreographer at regional theaters all over the country. She was also a dance instructor at the Shanghai Theatre Academy in China. Lisa loves singing, dancing, music, costumes, and kittens. She's excited to share the things that make her happy with all the dancers at Dance with Miss Rachel.
"Miss Alanna" Chan
“Miss Alanna" Chan is a New York-based dancer and actress. She graduated from Iona College with a B.A. in Public Relations/Dance and trained with the Joffrey Ballet School’s prestigious Jazz and Contemporary Program. She has been seen on stage at Lincoln Center, Metropolitan Museum of Art, and in New York regional theaters. Alanna is a member of Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), and can be seen in numerous advertisements, music videos, and television appearances. She can’t wait to share her love and passion for the arts with the dancers at Dance with Miss Rachel!
"Miss Sarah" Chin
"Miss Sarah" grew up in Baltimore, and began her formal dance training at Peabody Preparatory, at the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University. She continued her pre-professional training at the Baltimore School for the Arts and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. In 2013, Sarah graduated magna cum laude from Marymount Manhattan College with a BFA in Dance and a concentration in Ballet. While training at Marymount, she gained experience as a choreographer, and several of her works have been presented at MMC Honors Day, the Dancewave Kids Cafe Festival, and In-Sight Dance Company's Suite Summer Festival. Miss Sarah is so excited about joining the Dance with Miss Rachel team and having the opportunity to spread the joy of dance with young ballerinas!
"Mr. Donald" Coggin

“Mr. Donald” grew up in Wilmington, DE and came to NYC in 2011 to study music theatre at NYU, where he met fellow teacher extraordinaire, Mr. Curtis! After graduating from NYU (’15), Mr. Donald went on to play Younger Brother in the national tour of Ragtime. Aside from acting, he has always loved to play piano and guitar, and is so excited to work with some very special baby boppers at DWMR! In the past two years, Donald started offering donation-based acting/voice coaching, a fiery passion previously unearthed. Thus, he is incredibly grateful for a formal space to serve young minds as a force of love and creative growth!
"Miss Bridget" Crisonino
"Miss Bridget" earned her BFA from NYU, Tisch School of the Arts, from the New Studio on Broadway. Raised in Berkeley Heights, NJ, she grew up surrounded by a family of musical artists and was taught by talented and supportive teachers who continue to serve as her artistic role models to this day. Bridget first brought her love for song and dance to the stage through piano, dance competitions, and participating in Paper Mill Playhouse's All-Star Company. Bridget's affinity for theatre magic followed her as she appeared in roles such as Ariel, Snow White, Belle, Little Red Riding Hood, and JoJo in Seussical. She made her first NYC appearance in the Off-Broadway musical, Evergreen. Bridget continues to perform with the NY Pops in Carnegie Hall Gala Concerts, as well as appearing in various workshops, readings, and television shows. Bridget is so excited to be joining the DWMR team and to share with her students all the joy, love, and friendship from the many years of dance in her own youth.
Baby Bop! Music Leader
Collin is a favorite of children throughout Manhattan for his work with Music for Aardvarks and others. An accomplished musician and composer, he has also written the scores and created original songs for the feature films The Crab and Rona Mark's Objects Attack!. Collin recently finished a successful run of the hit show Fuerza Bruta: Wayra.
"Miss Sara" DeNatalie
"Miss Sara" is a NYC-based stage manager whose credits include Drunk Shakespeare and the national tour of The Berenstain Bears Live!. Originally from Bay Shore, NY, Sara took a ballet class when she was three years old. Even though her dance career was short-lived, she met her best friend in that class and over 20 years later, still counts it as one of the best choices of her young life. Sara has a BA in Art History from Stony Brook University and is a lover of all types of artistic expression! She is so excited to join the DWMR team!
"Miss Suzanna" Dupree
"Miss Suzanna" is ecstatic to join the Dance with Miss Rachel team. Originally from Raleigh, NC, Suzanna has trained in both voice and dance since she can remember! She graduated magna cum laude with a BFA in Musical Theatre from The Boston Conservatory and began touring with A Chorus Line (US, Canadian & Japanese companies), and most recently with QUEEN's hit We Will Rock You. Her favorite NYC/Regional credits include, Cabaret, Sweet Charity, 42nd Street, Cinderella, and frequent performances at Rockwood Music Hall. She is a regular judge for multiple dance competition circuits and teaches at studios around the city. Miss Suzanna is grateful for the opportunity to share her knowledge and joy of dance with the promising talent of tomorrow!
"Miss Tara" Forseth
"Miss Tara" grew up on six acres in Maryland with many cats, dogs, and horses. She fell in love with dance as soon as she could walk, and began ballet and tap classes at age four. This eventually led to a passion for musical theatre, leading her to NYU Tisch School of the Arts, where she trained at the Atlantic Acting School and The New Studio on Broadway. Favorite regional and college credits include Laurey in Oklahoma!, Martha Jefferson in 1776, Lois Lane in Kiss Me Kate, and Anna in Spring Awakening. Tara is so excited to be a part of the Dance with Miss Rachel team and to share her love of song and dance.
"Miss Katherine Gorham"
"Miss Katherine" is very excited to be joining the Dance with Miss Rachel team! She grew up in San Diego, California, where she received an intensive dance education in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, and Hip Hop, and studied vocal performance and musical theater under renowned opera singer Nina Smith. She received a BA in Theatre Arts at Stony Brook University, where she graduated summa cum laude. She has since worked as a dance teacher and choreographer all over NYC while pursuing a career as a comedic television writer. Her favorite choreography credits include American Idiot: the Musical and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Her favorite performance credits include Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, Next to Normal, and Legally Blonde. the Musical.
"Mr. James" Harvey
"Mr. James" studied music composition at NYU Steinhardt and the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop. His original musical, The Crack in the Ceiling, was produced at the New York Musical Theatre Festival and the New York International Fringe Festival. His one-man comedy show, The Bald Faced Truth, continues to play to sold-out audiences in New York City. As an educator, James has worked for such organizations as Tada Youth Theatre, American Musical Theatre Academy, and A Class Act NY, and is experienced in teaching musical theatre performance, songwriting, and piano.
"Miss Celeste" Hudson
"Miss Celeste" made her stage debut as a dancing poodle at age three, and hasn't stopped dancing since! She graduated from NYU Tisch with a BFA in Drama from the New Studio on Broadway for Musical Theatre and a minor in Child/Adolescent Mental Health Studies. Since living in NYC, she has been honored to perform at Radio City Music Hall, Joe's Pub, Merkin Concert Hall, with NYMF at the Studio Theatre in the Signature, and in Times Square at The Liberty Theatre, to name a few favorites! She is incredibly passionate about arts education and feels so lucky to be pursuing her dream of sharing her love for dance and the arts with the amazing dancers at Dance with Miss Rachel!
"Miss Kaitlyn" Konstandt
“Miss Kaitlyn” Konstandt grew up in Amherst, New York, where she received ballet training at the American Academy of Ballet of Western NY and spent summers at The School of American Ballet, Chautauqua Institution, and as an apprentice with North Carolina Dance Theater. After graduating from FIT and working in apparel and event management, Miss Kaitlyn is excited to be back doing her favorite thing in the world—ballet! She is a certified teacher through American Ballet Theatre’s National Training Curriculum program and is thrilled to share her love of music and dance with the DWMR ballerinas! Miss Kaitlyn resides in Tribeca with her husband.
"Miss Gloria" Makino
"Miss Gloria" grew up in Maryland and lived in Iowa before moving to New York. She has been singing since before she could talk, and started playing piano at age six. Her first experience playing piano for a ballet class was on Law & Order: Criminal Intent. As a singer, she has performed as a soloist at Carnegie Hall and 54 Below, and was chosen by Hugh Martin's estate to record his last song for the CD Hugh Martin: Hidden Treasures, which has been reviewed on NPR and France Musique. She is also an actress, dancer, writer, and composer, and earned her B.A. cum laude from Barnard College of Columbia University.
"Miss Danielle" Mumpower
"Miss Danielle" was born and bred in Bristol, VA, where she started her formal ballet training at the age of 3 and never looked back! She attended East Tennessee State University where she studied in division of Theatre and Dance. In 2010, Miss Danielle led the cast of Tallulah Dies at the Cincinnati Fringe Festival, bringing home the Producer's Pick award. Since moving NYC in 2012, Miss Danielle was in the original cast of Raiz with Sliva Dance Company, as well as Checkit Dance! and Improbable Stage Company. She’s worked on many original projects, including features in Myselves, choreographed by Lauren Lasorda, and Roadkill from creators and choreographers Tali Custer and Lauren Lasorda, and most recently in That Which Remains at the IRT Theatre. Miss Danielle is also a teaching artist with Wingspan Arts, and an active member of House of the Roses, a volunteer dance company bringing dance classes to NYC children in community centers and shelters. She is thrilled to join the DWMR team and cannot wait to dance with you all!
"Miss Renee" Ong
"Miss Renee" grew up in Singapore, where she studied piano under Ms. Akiko iijima. Since moving to the US, she studied film scoring at Berklee College of Music under the Berklee’s World Tour’s Scholarship. In New York, she actively performs with renowned dance companies and professional schools, including the Dance Theatre of Harlem, New York Theatre Ballet, Steps on Broadway, and others. Through her music, she hopes to inspire the little dancers at Dance with Miss Rachel.
"Miss Maia" Potok-Holmes
“Miss Maia” grew up in Philadelphia, where she entered the world of dance at age three! She spent her time dancing, singing, and dreaming of being onstage. She attended Goucher College, where she studied dance and arts administration. Maia has had the incredible opportunity to perform in new works by world-renowned choreographers like Milton Myers, Matt Steffanina, Matthew Neenan, and Christian von Howard. Additional favorite credits include roles in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, West Side Story, Hairspray, and The Sound of Music. Maia is so thrilled to be a part of Dance With Miss Rachel, and to share her passion for dance and song with all of her dancers!
"Mr. Curtis" Reynolds
"Mr. Curtis" is an actor and musician based in NYC. He's been a pianist at DWMR since 2016 and also works as a pianist at NYU, AMDA, and privately as a coach to singers. His work at TADA! Youth Theater, Music To Your Home, Youth Pride Chorus, and years involved in children's theatre has allowed Curtis to work with many young performers and musicians. He holds a degree in Vocal Performance (Musical Theatre) from NYU and hails from the cornfields of Nebraska.
"Miss Kayla" Shaffer
“Miss Kayla” Shaffer is ecstatic to be part of the DWMR family. She is originally from the small town of Erie, Pennsylvania, where she began dancing at the age of two at her aunt’s dance academy. She continued to dance over the years in all subjects, and soon fell in love with teaching at 13. She began to sing and act as well dance at the Center for Performing Arts, where she studied during high school. She graduated cum laude from the University of Tampa with a BFA in Performing Arts, and then moved to New York to pursue her dreams of performing and teaching. She can be seen in the Pain and Gain movie national commercial with Shaq, The Rock, and Mark Wahlberg, and as an extra in local TV shows and films. She’s also appeared in Cabaret at The Underground, The Wedding Singer at Narrows, and at the Radio City Rockette Intensives at Radio City Music Hall and the American Airlines Theater. Her can be heard singing the National Anthem at professional baseball, hockey, and basketball games. Miss Kayla is honored to teach at DWMR, and cannot wait to share her passion of dance and theater with the students, families, and staff.
"Miss Lauren" Smith
"Miss Lauren" spent her early years in Pennsylvania where she was an avid baton twirler and dancer. After moving to Florida at age 9, she found theatre at age 11 and never looked back! She received a BFA in Musical Theatre from Western Carolina University and moved to NYC a year later. She has been seen on stage in New York City and in regional theatres across the country. Some favorite credits include Singin' in the Rain, Guys and Dolls, and Sweeney Todd. She was even in a show with music written by "Mr. David" Carl! Miss Lauren is excited to be a part of the Dance With Miss Rachel team!
"Mr. Zach" Smith

"Mr. Zach" is a firm believer that music is a vital first step in each child's social/emotional development and has carried this philosophy with him through his years of teaching and performing for children across New York and New Jersey. Using music as a tool, Mr. Zach is able to foster unique connections with even the shyest of students. When he isn't molding young minds, Zach is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter who plays guitar, bass, and banjo live and in recording sessions with bands and artists across the country.
"Miss Sarah" Treanor
"Miss Sarah" originally hails from Annapolis, Maryland, where she grew up singing, dancing, and acting throughout the DC/Baltimore area. She became passionate about classical music and studied voice at Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore during high school before moving to NYC to pursue a Bachelor's of Music in Vocal Performance and a Minor in Educational Theatre at NYU. She has been fortunate to perform in musicals and concerts in New York City and in regional theaters throughout the US. Some favorite shows include Cabaret and Life Could Be a Dream. Sarah is thrilled to be a part of the team at DWMR!
"Miss Anna" Stone
“Miss Anna” is a professional dancer and dance instructor with over 23 years of experience. She grew up studying Ballet, Tap, Jazz, and Clogging at The Studio for Dance in Cincinnati, OH, as well as training in depth in Ballet at the College Conservatory of Music and the Cincinnati Ballet. Anna went on to attain a Bachelor of Performing Arts from Oklahoma City University. While there, she studied extensively in Ballet, Tap, and Jazz, as well as dance pedagogy. Since graduation, Anna has worked regularly as a professional dancer and teacher. She is the Director of Programming and Teaching Artist with Motivated Movers NYC, and most recently, she was seen on stage around the world in both the International and National tours of Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Other favorite credits include the original cast of Scrooge No More, directed and choreographed by Broadway’s Lisa Shriver, Le Grande Cirque, and Dancing Queen. Anna has taught with ASTEP and the IRC at the Refugee Youth Summer Academy, and can be seen teaching as a guest artist for studios across the country. She is beyond thrilled to share her passion with the Dance With Miss Rachel dancers!
"Miss Elise" Vannerson
"Miss Elise" is so happy to be a spending another year at Dance with Miss Rachel! Originally from Los Angeles, she started out in softball so she could be just like her brother. However, due to missing every ball thrown her way because she was dancing in the outfield, her parents quickly enrolled her in dance classes, and the rest was history. She went on to attend Oklahoma City University, where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts and immediately after she moved to New York City to pursue her dreams! She can't wait to share her passion and love of performing with all the beautiful dancers at DWMR!
"Miss Kasey" Walker
"Miss Kasey" is originally from Carmel, IN and started dancing at the age of three. After receiving a BFA in Musical Theatre from the University of Oklahoma, she moved to New York to pursue her passion professionally. She has toured nationally with Legally Blonde and We Will Rock You,and performed regionally with Anything Goes, The Sound of Music, Peter Pan, The Who's Tommy, 42nd Street, and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at various theatres in Indiana, Oklahoma, and Maine. Miss Kasey is thrilled to join the Dance with Miss Rachel team and share her love of dance with the students!
"Miss Gracie" Verkamp
“Miss Gracie” grew up in Omaha, NE, where she began dancing at the age of three. She quickly knew that dance would always be a special part of her life. She went on to attend Oklahoma City University, where she received a Bachelor of Performing Arts. Gracie has had the privilege of training on scholarship with Giordano Dance Chicago and Broadway Dance Center. Most recently, she has worked with Norwegian Cruise Line appearing in numerous shows while traveling around the world. Gracie is excited about being back on land and pursuing her dreams in New York City. She cannot wait to share her love and knowledge of dance with all of the children at Dance with Miss Rachel.
